Mum’s “thank you” to hospital who saved her baby

THE mother of a miracle baby has raised £5000 as a “thank you” to the people who saved her child’s life.

Lorraine Walsh (26) and hubby William (35) raised the cash by holding a charity night at Croy Miners’ Welfare after their daughter Chloe Friel was born 17 weeks premature on August 7, 2010.

The huge sum was donated by friends and family of the couple through raffles and auctions and was presented to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation this week.

“If it wasn’t for the people at Yorkhill and the Princess Royal where Chloe was born, she wouldn’t be alive today,” said Lorraine, who recently celebrated Chloe’s first birthday with the family.

“She was only 1lb and 9oz when she was born and she stayed at the Royal for eight weeks before she was transferred to Yorkhill for four months after she contracted a bowel infection. It’s such a relief to have Chloe home and she’s a happy baby, laughing and smiling all the time.”
