The new-look Greenfaulds High costing around £30 million has been revealed.

North Lanarkshire Council has given the News and Chronicle a glimpse of the plans for the new £30 million school, which will be on the existing Greenfaulds High site and is expected to be finished by 2016.

The impressive plans include an all-weather eight lane athletics track with associated field facilities such as high jump, triple jump in addition to synthetic sports pitches.

The heart of the building is the central space consisting of a hall, social, dining and internal courtyard.

These spaces have been designed to also work together providing opportunities for performance, drama, conference and social events. The new school will also continue to provide for Gaelic learning.

Plans for the project are at the statutory pre-planning consultation stage with the local community, who have until January 27 to make comments on the proposals.

The consultation period ends on February 3. After February, the next stage involves submitting a full planning application.
