A NEW mediation service is being introduced to residents of Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

Monday, 10th October 2011, 3:00 pm

The free service allows locals to resolve ongoing arguments with tradesman, suppliers and contractors.

The free service will settle cases with a value of £3000 or less. The mediation can be carried out over the phone or face to face and can be conducted outwith office hours.

Residents can ask to be referred to the North Lanarkshire Mediation Service.

Margaret Lynch, the director of the Scottish Mediation Network said: “Mediations can be conducted out of normal office hours, and this should make it easier for residents in North Lanarkshire to resolve disputes. There is no need to take a day off work to attend court- and no need to go to court at all. If both parties are willing to consider mediation, it is possible in almost all cases to reach an amicable agreement.”
