No way in

FED-UP residents living in flats where the door entry system is broken are urging North Lanarkshire Council to fix the problem.

The residents - who are elderly - say that they cannot let people in their building on Station Road in Kilsyth because of the faulty door entry system.

The issue was raised at a recent meeting of Kilsyth Community Council after the residents felt they were getting no closer to finding a solution to the problem.

The building contains a mixture of flats owned by private tenants and North Lanarkshire Council.

The local authority therefore has to ensure everyone agrees to the repair being carried out before they can go ahead.

A spokesperson for Kilsyth Community Council said: “The door entry system hasn’t been working for a while now.

“I went to visit one of the residents and could not get in.

“The residents who complained to us are elderly and it is too difficult for them to come downstairs and open the door manually.

“They are also worried if there is emergency that the fire brigade or police may have difficulty gaining access.”
