Notorious child killer Robert Black dies in jail

The man convicted of killing four young girls in the 1980s has died in prison in Northern Ireland.

Robert Black, from Grangemouth, who was 68, died of natural causes in the high security Maghaberry jail.

He was serving 12 life sentences for the murders of 11-year-old Susan Maxwell, Caroline Hogg (5), both from Scotland, Jennifer Cardy (9) from Northern Ireland and Sarah Harper (10) from England.

He carried out his horrific crimes while working as a delivery driver across the UK.

His death, which is not being treated as suspicious, has been confirmed by the Northern Ireland Prison Service.
