Nursery closure ‘likely’

THE closure of Abronhill Nursery School now appears all but certain after councillors voted it through last week.

Members of North Lanarkshire Council’s learning and leisure committee voted 13-10 in favour of moving the nursery into classrooms at St Lucy’s Primary School.

While the final vote will not take place until the next full council meeting on March 24, a reversal seems unlikely.

The council carried out a public consultation prior to the vote and claims this will result in improved education while also saving £125,000 annually.
