Nursery’s inrecord books

CUMBERNAULD College Nursery have made it into the record books by becoming the 1200th school in Scotland to receive a Green Flag Award.

The children and staff at the local nursery have been working their little green fingers to the bone over the past three years, building up a port folio of work which has eventually earned them their award.

Head of Centre, Anna Fisher, was delighted for everyone involved with the work and is proud to have been part of the landmark achievement.

Anna said: “Everyone at the nursery was ecstatic to have been awarded the flag and it’s a great achievement.

“We are a very eco-conscious nursery and we hadn’t actually realised the amount of work we had amassed over the years.

“We could have actually applied much earlier.

“There’s been a strong focus on the environment throughout the nursery over the past few years and the children have been a really active part in that.

“They re-use and re-cycle everything they can, they get out into the community and some of the ideas they come up with are just fantastic.

“We also work with the forestry commission, they’ve built bug hotels, planted flowers, collected rain water, the lot.

“I’m so proud of all their work and I thank all the children, staff and all those who have helped us achieve this award.”
