PEOPLE power came to Condorrat after a community council was formed. Its chairman was former Cumbernauld Development Corporation boss Bobby Johnstone.

1986

DONATE your factory – that was the plea from MP Norman Hogg to Burroughs. The giant American computer firm had announced it would sever its longstanding connection with Cumbernauld, with the loss of 360 jobs. Mr Hogg believed that the plant with its offices and adjacent land could be used to attract some sort of substitute investor to the town.

CUMBERNAULD and Kilsyth Sports Council held its inaugural meeting at Council offices in Bron Way. The exciting new sporting initiative drew 16 members and was chaired by John Thompson of Cumbernauld Cycling Club.

1971

BOUND for Canada – that was Cumbernauld Caledonia Pipe Band who were named the top band in their testing Grade 3 exams, according to figures released by the Scottish Pipe Band Association.
