Controversial parking restrictions are to be lifted in a key part of Cumbernauld town centre.

Members of the college’s student association have taken to Facebook to announce the long-awaited news.

It’s stressed that this was a result of talks not simply with the Antonine Centre but Tesco Extra which had expressed a willingness to get rid of its own three-hour parking restriction.

Now the Antonine Centre has finally come round to the idea which means an end to the high number of fines for staff and students on campus.

An online post from the students stated: “This was a very good meeting and it looks like the parking restrictions will be lifted in the first week of May. This is to allow operational aspects to be dealt with amongst parking operators.’’

More on this story will appear in next week’s edition.
