Extra support for groups who work with over 70s

Groups in Scotland who are supporting the over-70s are being encouraged to enter a monthly scheme run by a regional housebuilder which could see them awarded up to £1,000 to support their work.

Persimmon Homes regions in East , West and North Scotland launched Community Champions with a view to helping community groups, charities and good causes across Scotland in areas that include Angus, Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Dundee, Fife, Glasgow, Perthshire, the Lothians, Renfrewshire, the Borders, Dumfriesshire, Kinross-shire, Lanarkshire, Midlothian, Peeblesshire and Stirlingshire with two donations of up to £1,000 made locally every month.

For the foreseeable future, the housebuilder is now supporting elderly people in the community and charities, clubs and organisations that support or work with this age group are bring encouraged to apply.

Doug Law, regional managing director of Persimmon Homes Scotland, said: “We have always believed in supporting the communities where we build, especially grassroot activities, and we hope people understand our desire to support specifically the over-70s, a vulnerable group in our society who we feel need our support.

“We hope as many local groups enter the scheme as possible so that we can help people throughout the region and support varied causes that put the elderly at the heart of their work.”
