Pitch perfect pupils celebrate Christmas

The performances were held over two evenings, Monday, December 2 and 9, in the Motherwell Concert Hall, with around 570 senior pupils from secondary schools treating an audience of parents, councillors and other guests to some festive cheer.

Andrew Sutherland, executive director of learning and leisure at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “This was my first ever North Lanarkshire Schools’ Christmas Concerts and I was really impressed with the outstanding talents – both individually and collectively – on display.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved, especially our music tutors who have worked tirelessly to make our Christmas concerts possible, for their hard work and commitment in the producing such a spectacular event.”

Raffles to win an iPad were held during the intervals with over £1000 being raised split between the North Lanarkshire Council music groups and the Provost’s Malawi fund.

The iPads were kindly donated by Scotshield Fire and Security Systems.

Councillor Jim Logue, convener of learning and leisure services at North Lanarkshire Council, thanked Scotshield for their support and praised the quality of the performances. He said: “Congratulations to all our pupils and staff involved in these outstanding concerts.

“The consistent success of such concerts significantly enhances the profile and reputation of both our schools and of North Lanarkshire Council.”
