Police station site still in developers’ hands

THE developers who had a bid to bring a major retail development to Kilsyth rejected still have time to appeal.

The News and Chronicle previously reported on plans to demolish the old police station on Parkfoot Road and build a retail unit that would house three businesses.

The application, however, was rejected by councillors at a meeting of North Lanarkshire Council’s planning and transportation committee last month.

The development was expected to include supermarket giants Tesco, bakers Greggs and frozen food specialists Iceland, creating an estimated 50 jobs.

Strathclyde Police, who own the site, have confirmed that the sale was subject to the planning permission being approved.
