The state of flats in the Glenacre Road area of Carbrain has been criticised recently.

A local property owner, who asked not to be named, told the News that he was seriously concerned about the state of external panelling and stairwells.

He said: “I have been trying to get Sanctuary to fix these things for years.
“The panelling and stairs are dangerous. Panels have fallen off every block of flats and when they do get replaced it’s on a like for like basis. I’m worried someone could be hit.”

A spokesman for factors Sanctuary Cumbernauld said: “During the 2014/15 financial year we have committed to spend £3.2 million refurbishing our more established housing stock in the town. The work to replace the damaged and missing panels in Glenacre Road has been authorised and will be carried out before the onset of winter. We will be contacting our tenants and private owners in the near future to let them know when this work will take place.”
