Cumbernauld to host another public meeting on Scottish independence

The union that represents Cumbernauld’s biggest workplace has organised its own meeting on the key question of independence.

The Public and Commercial Services union which has a branch at HMRC in Cumbernauld has hired New Town Hall for the event.

We can confirm it will take place on Wednesday, August 27 at 7.30pm and will be chaired by a PCS union representative. Speakers from both sides have yet to be confirmed for the event and further details will appear in an upcoming edition.

PCS representative John Miller explained why the meeting was taking place. He said: “The PCS took a democratic decision at a specially convened Scottish conference not to support either side in the referendum debate.

“However branches were tasked to engage with members to allow them to listen to the debate and make their own mind up,’’ he added.
