Dullatur man will stand for the Scottish Parliament in Airdrie

A former detective who became involved with Labour politics on his retirement has been chosen to stand for the Scottish Parliament.

Tom Porter (56) started off in the campaign that landed Gregg McClymont a Parliamentary seat in 2010 and worked his way up to chairmanship of Cumbernauld’s branch of the constituency Labour Party.

Now he’ll mount his own campaign after being selected to contest the Airdrie and Shotts constituency in the Scottish Parliament elections in 2016. The seat is currently held by Scottish Nationalist Alex Neil.
