Glasgow councillor calls Boris Johnson an ‘a***hole’ after lockdown party revealed

Councillor Ruairi Kelly made the comment after it was reported 100 people were invited to a bring your own booze drinks event in the Downing Street garden. It is understood about 30 attended, according to the BBC.

The Prime Minister has declined to say whether he was at the get together during the first lockdown on May 20, 2020 saying the situation is subject to an inquiry.

What did the councillor say?

While sharing a video on Twitter of Mr Johnson being questioned over the allegations, SNP councillor Kelly said : “This a***hole is literally laughing at getting caught having a party while people were banned from hugging at funerals. Absolute scum. How anyone can even comprehend voting for this mob is beyond me.”

The North East Glasgow politician said after: “I don’t think any revelation about this Tory government would surprise me but it is absolutely disgusting to see this excuse for a Prime Minister laugh and joke when confronted about inviting 100 staff to a party while people were being prevented from comforting loved ones at funerals. If the UK is to retain any semblance of democratic accountability there has to be consequences.”

An ongoing independent investigation by senior civil servant Sue Gray is underway.

‘Resign’

Another SNP Glasgow councillor Mhairi Hunter said: “Boris Johnson should honestly just resign. So many thousands of families carrying a burden of pain from the pandemic. Each new revelation is like having that pain poked with a sharp stick. There can be no good ending to this. Just go. Give yourself peace as well as everyone else.”
