Make your voice heard on community matters

Residents, businesses and local groups are being encouraged to join in the conversation about local community priorities and matters.

Seven sessions have been organised as part of the Community Matters forum to involve people in local community decision-making.

The sessions will this month will provide people with the opportunity to share views on their own community needs and issues, as well as having their say on how local funding is used to benefit each community.

The events will take place on: Tuesday, September 11, at 6.30pm in Chryston Cultural Centre and 7pm in Tannochside Primary; Wednesday, September 12, at 6pm in St Margaret’s High, Airdrie; Thursday, September 13, at 6.30pm in St Andrew’s High, Coatbridge; Tuesday, September 18, at 7pm in Jim Foley Centre, Craigneuk; Thursday, September 20, at 6pm in Freedom City Church Centre, Cumbernauld, and 7pm in Centrepoint, Gowkthrapple.

Matt Costello, community partnership manager at North Lanarkshire Council, said: “It’s vital that local residents, community groups and businesses who are at the heart of communities have a central role in making decisions about improvements or changes to their local area.

“People make communities and people rely on their community in times of need. So it’s important to take up the opportunity to have your say and really make a difference, whether it’s about an issue you feel strongly about or about a service you use regularly. These meetings also allow people to get to know each other and brings people together to share their views, which can really help shape communities.”

Information stalls, refreshments and children’s arts and craft activities will be available.
