Post Office has finally re-opened after ATM raid in Cumbernauld Village

A two month shutdown is over at Cumbernauld Village Post office, after its doors re-opened on Tuesday, February 10.

The sub-post office has been out of commission following a dramatic incident on Wednesday December 10 when a gang blew up the ATM machine on the walls of the historic Main Street building.

Residents reported hearing at explosion after 5am and a witnessed a number of males making a quick escape by car - but not before pocketing a five figure sum. Enquiries into this incident are continuing.

Meanwhile pensioners had to make their way to Cumbernauld’s crown post office in the town centre to access their funds.

Shortly after we went to press it emerged that the facility is finally back in business

A Post Office spokesman confirmed: ‘’We are very pleased to report that the Village post office is up and running again. It’s great news.’’
