Protestors braved foul weather on Saturday to vent their anger at the decision to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising, a bloody chapter in the fight for Irish independence.

The demo, organised by Glasgow-based Regimental Blues, went ahead despite the council’s ruling Labour group vowing to overturn the controversial vote when the full council meets this week.

The Loyalist pressure group is also planning to protest at council buildings in Coatbridge this Saturday and Cumbernauld the following week.
