£1000 cash boostfor House of Bread

Sanctuary Cumbernauld has donated £1000 to the House of Bread project to support its charitable work.

The money from Sanctuary’s Grand Ideas Fund will help those local people who use the food bank, which operates from the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Esk Walk every Thursday from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Norma Cowan, House of Bread project manager, said: “The grant from Sanctuary has given the project a massive boost and allowed us to become more organised.

“While we continue to rely on donations to create the food parcels, we have been able to purchase a computer and much-needed storage space for the basic food supplies we give out.

“Life is tougher than ever for many and we encourage those in need to use the service we offer. Last year we provided 1200 food parcels and – in the current financial climate – we would expect that demand to continue.”

Fran Jones, Sanctuary Cumbernauld chairwoman, added: “We are delighted to support the House of Bread project and the valuable service it provides in the town.

“Norma and her team do an amazing job, helping feed local families.”
