Public debate future of Cumbernauld Primary School

MORE light was shed on the possible future of the former Cumbernauld Primary School at a public meeting on Thursday.

More than 100 people turned up for the event in the Wynd, organised by community groups CVAC and Cumbernauld House Trust. These organisations were able to secure £14,100 in lottery grants to carry out feasibility studies, being carried out by Jura Consultants and Malcolm Fraser Architects.

Ciaran Mulholland of Jura Consultants explained the facility had to be a community led resource, but also commerical enough to generate its own revenue.

He put forward two possible options: to convert the school into a cafe, offices and visitor/heritage centre, or to do the same but add a multipurpose hall.
