Public invited to PO meeting

LOCALS concerned about the prospect of Cumbernauld’s main post office being moved to another premises are being invited to a public meeting next Thursday, May 10.

It has been organised by concerned MP Gregg McClymont who has met with trade union bosses at the post office who believe the facility should stay where it is. They argue that it is too busy to cope with a move to a smaller location. Post office counter staff went on strike on Monday to voice their opposition to the move.

However, post office bosses say it would be more cost-effective to move it to within a shop,

Mr McClymont does not view this as the way forward and raised the issue at Westminster last week

He said: “The queues at Cumbernauld Town Centre Post Office are already long enough. That’s why I have called a public meeting next month to allow locals their say”.

The meeting is at 6pm at the Muirfield Centre.
