Public tells police their issues of concern

Police Scotland has released the latest results of their survey

The survey has now been live for three months, and was completed by more than 10,000 people throughout Scotland, with 1,271 of those responses from people being served by Lanarkshire Division.

It sets out to ensure local policing is at the heart of Police Scotland and the force is committed to listening to the public to ensure that it provides a high standard of service to local people and communities.

The people of Lanarkshire have listed their top five priorities as being: anti-social behaviour / disorder; homes being broken into; drug dealing / drug misuse; violent crime; and cars (or other vehicles) being stolen or broken into.

Chief Superintendent Roddy Irvine said: “It’s essential that the public tell us what is important to them so that we can shape the policing of Lanarkshire accordingly.

“These results and other crucial information such as crime statistics are used to determine our policing response to ensure that it reflects the specific needs of our local communities.

“This year’s annual crime figures for the division showed a significant drop of 11.2 per cent in overall crime and that includes a reduction in each of the priorities identified as a result of this survey.

“We are determined to build on this success and deliver the best service we possibly can.

“We work with our partner agencies and the public to achieve our overall aim of cutting crime and keeping people safe in Lanarkshire.

“Finally, I would like to thank those who have taken the time to fill in the survey.

“We will continue to monitor the results to make sure our policing response addresses local issues.”
