Pupils now sitting pretty

Pupils and staff at Castlehill Primary arrived at school recently to discover one of their playground benches and an additional picnic bench had been damaged.

A number of the Castlehill pupils in P6 and P7 wrote to Bearsden North Community Council explaining what happened.

The community council immediately stepped in to give its support and offered to buy a new bench from their funds.

Castlehill Primary School headteacher Suzanne Kenney said: “The pupils were very disappointed to see the benches had been vandalised during one weekend.

“Pupils were delighted with the support from the community council who 
kindly offered to buy a new bench.

“The bench was chosen by the children who also decided where in the playground it should be situated.

“A huge thank you to the community council for their support.

“We look forward to many years of using our lovely new bench.”

Parents at the school have been urged to keep an eye out for “unwanted visitors” to the school after the recent vandalism incident.

The latest school newsletter asked parents living on the school perimeter, or who see anything suspicious to call the local community police officers on 101.

Police emphasis that all calls to 101 can be carried out anonymously.
