Pupils zoom in on best film award

TALENTED pupils from a local secondary have brought glory back to Cumbernauld after triumphing at a glitzy awards ceremony in Glasgow - despite being the youngest entrants in the contest by far.

These elated youngsters who are part of Greenfaulds High School Gaelic Unit won a top award at the National Gaelic Film Awards after working with North Lanarkshire Council’s film school LensHeads

TThis year’s competition theme was ‘Air an Stairsnich’ / ‘On the Threshold’ and the pupils’ interpretation won them the Best Film award in the 12-17 age category. Plus it made the shortlist for ‘Best Production’. The award winning story is told through the eyes of a young girl who is encouraged by her gran to help preserve the language.

Councillor Jim Logue, Convener of Learning and Leisure Services, North Lanarkshire Council, said: “I am absolutely delighted by this latest honour for our pupils.’’
