Last month, we told how Tipu intended to stage a game at Broadwood Stadium and charge competititors £20 each for taking part.

And the event has proved to be an unqualified success as two fast-paced matches were staged over the course of the evening.

In fact, Tipu who lives near the stadium just doesn’t want to stop there.

He now intends to stage further fundraising events in the future.

The Broadwood resident said: “Prior to the game, I set up a just-giving page and would like to thank all the individuals who have kindly donated not just on the website but in person too.’’

“The day was met with great feedback and a big audience came to support this.

“I am totally overwhelmed by all the support and the amount raised,’’ he added.

Grateful Tipu also wants to thank all the competitors and everyone who donated sponsorship gifts - plus his family for all the support they’ve given him in organising the event.
