CARBRAIN showed the rest of Cumbernauld that it knows how to party after its very own gala day was hailed as a soaraway success.

Volunteers from hardworking Carbrain and Hillcrest Community Council had been working for months to make the event a success and used both indoor and outdoor facilities at St Margaret of Scotland Primary.

Officially opened by MSP Jamie Hepburn, the event was enlivened by a DJ and youngsters from Joan McVicar School of Dance before the Coronation of the Gala Queen got underway.

Last year’s Queen, Shona Savage, swapped roles with 2011 Queen Rebecca Glass from Queen Margaret of Scotland Primary School.

And Queen Rebecca had plenty of support from her attendents Melissa Pritchard of Carbrain Primary and Hannah Smith of Woodlands Primary School.
