Reindeer jingle all the way

Two reindeer visited the area on Friday, December 6, at a special event organised by Abronhill Regeneration Forum.

The magical creatures greeted members of the community as they entered Abronhill Community Centre on Larch Road for an evening of carol singing.

Several local schools including St Lucy’s Primary School, Whitelees Primary School, and Abronhill Primary School, entertained the audience with a wonderful night of carol singing.

They were joined by the choir of Abronhill Parish Church.

And the children even brought along some reindeer dust to give them some magic ahead of their big delivery on Christmas eve.

The event was organised by the Abronhill Regeneration Forum in partnership with the Abronhill Learning Trust and North Lanarkshire Council’s Community Learning and Development.

Those on the committee who helped included chairwoman Margaret Devlin, Helen Hutchison, Jenny Burgen, Caroline Shields, Gayle MacDonald and Mairead O’Neill.

Margaret Devlin, chairwoman of the committee, said: “Inside the centre, it was full of parents, grandparents and children bringing their community together, in what was a very magical night.

“Everyone involved in these events have worked very hard to bring the community of Abronhill together.”

A family fayre was held on Saturday, December 7, raising £900, from both events.

This money will go towards the upkeep of two local parks in Abronhill including the well established Oak Road park and the new park on Ash Road.
