Rents up by 79p a week on average
A BELOW-INFLATION rent increase has been voted through by North Lanarkshire Council.
Council rents will increase by 1.5 per cent in each of the next two years, representing an increase of 79p a week on average.
There are 36,000 tenants in North Lanarkshire, who will be paying an average £53.84 per week in 2011-2012 compared with £52.37 in 2010/11.
The council tax remains frozen for the fourth consecutive year.
