Road fears spark residents’ petition

IRATE residents in Seafar are circulating a petition amid fears that a dead end is to be opened up - after being sealed off for many years on safety grounds.

Braeface Road was closed in the mid 1960s amid road safety fears about speeding – and some of those original householders are still resident in those same homes.

However, there are concerns that the road is to be re-opened to accommodate construction work and traffic thereafter from the new flats at Allanfauld Road.

The apartment complex, which is being spearheaded by Sanctuary Cumbernauld, is intended to house the residents of high-rise flats whose homes face demolition.

Margaret Harper, the woman behind the petition, said: “People are up in arms about this.”
