Road tragedy claims the life of Kilsyth man

Shortly before going to press, Police confirmed the death of a Kilsyth man following an incident on the A9 north of Kingussie almost two weeks ago.

Optician Robert McLachlan (57) is understood to have become unwell at the wheel of his Audi Q5 around 12.45pm on Friday, February 26 and his vehicle left the carriageway.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Mr McLachlan was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Police have said Mr McLachlan passed away on Tuesday, March 1 as a result of the medical episode behind the wheel.

No further details have been released about the incident and his family have asked for privacy at this time.

Mr McLachlan owned an eyewear chain with shops in both Kilsyth and Cumbernauld. His business extended to branches in the north east of Scotland.
