Row erupts over key postal contract
A PRIVATISATION row has erupted after Labour councillors ended their association with Royal Mail – amid claims that they have jeopardised the job security of working- class men and women.
Labour members at Motherwell Civic Centre voted to award a key postal delivery contract to Dutch giants TNT – but the authority’s 22 Scottish Nationalist councillors have expressed “grave concern’’ at the move.
Now the Nationalists are demanding a meeting with the councillor’s most senior executive, Gavin Whitefield, in a bid to affect a turnaround.
