Rugby club feeling theForce of game’s stars

Cumbernauld RFC in Condorrat took part in the RBS RugbyForce 2012 weekend between Saturday and Sunday, August 11 and 12, by offering coaching and giving volunteers a chance to do some DIY work to improve the club’s facilities.

Rugby stars Alistair Kellock and Mary Laifaiki attended the event giving aspiring professional players a chance to get tips on how to improve their game.

Paul Justice, Cumbernauld RFC secretary and midis coach, said: “It was a brilliant day and the players spent time with kids answering all their questions.”

The event was an opportunity for the club to attract new supporters and players, and show the community the work that they do.

Chris Paterson, Scottish Rugby and RBS ambassador, said: “Having been involved with RugbyForce before, I’ve seen for myself the difference that it can have not only at clubs across the country but with the communities around those clubs.

“It’s about more than just training and playing, it’s about developing and sustaining the game but perhaps more importantly about just enjoying being part of it.

“It’s great to see RugbyForce going to so many of the clubs at the grassroots of the game.

“RugbyForce makes a real difference to clubs in local communities and I’m delighted to be involved again.“
