Runners pound the streets in Cumbernauld’s 10k

CUMBERNAULD’s true spirit was on show at the weekend as hundreds of runners gathered to take on the Cumbernauld 10K.

Weeks of training came to fruition for a total of 458 runners who took part in the annual event.

Junior runners also braved the elements to take part in a 3K run and 1K run before the main race kicked off at 11am.

Before the 10K started at 11am, runners were offered a moment of calm as a minute silence was held to mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Among the 10k runners was the News and Chronicle’s own Martin Dalziel, who was fund-raising for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.
