Schoolboy badly beaten in gang attack

Police say a seven-strong group chased the victim after seeing him crossing the footbridge at Burn View and Cedar Road with two pals.

Officers have taken the unusual step of stating that they know where the attackers are from, after confirming that their enquiries are focusing on Abronhill.

It is understood the victim sustained a large and deep head wound and had to be rushed to hospital.

Police and community leaders reacted with anger and concern to news of the attack.
