Scrabble champ Ken has a way with words

Ken McGinness is a man of many words . . . just ask his friends at Cumbernauld Scrabable Club.

Ken has just won the club's league title, defeating Bob Jarvie to clinch the prestigious honour.

Bob had held the title for the previous five years.

Ken also scooped the club's Summer Trophy.

He said: "I would like to thank Bob for his help, advice and mentoring during these past three years.

"I feel a bit guilty in taking the title away from him - it's a bit like the pupil beating the master."

Bob said: "Ken fully deserved his success. He has also started playing tournament Scrabble and was officially recognised by the Association of British Scrabble Players as the most improved player in Scotland, and fifth in the world."

Cumbernauld Scrabble Club is currently welcoming new players. If you have spare time on Tuesday afternoons why not pop along?

Meetings are held in the Link Centre at 12.30pm, Beginners and experts welcome.
