Shrine rededicated in Croy

Last weekend some 50 people attended the rededication of the shrine at Nethercroy.

The ceremony was held on Sunday to coincide with the Feast of the Holy Cross and the Feast of the Parish of Croy.
James and Cathy McCann rebuilt and decorated the shrine, aided by William McLaughlin and others with Kevin and Frank O’Neill doing the brickwork.

Father Daniel Doherty reconsecrated the shrine and Croy Male Voice Choir led the singing, with Jean MacDonald from Kilsyth performing a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria.
The Shrine was originally dedicated in the late 1970s when it was originally dedicated by Father Tansey. Many local people used the spring water flowing from under it, and tests confirm the water is still safe today.
