Six car thefts over the weekend

Several unlocked cars were targeted by thieves in Cumbernauld over the weekend.

A total of six cars were broken into in the areas of Westerwood and Carrickstone.

And now police are asking vehicle owners in these areas to be extra vigilant.

A haul of items taken during the break-ins, which occurred between Thursday, September 12, and Monday, September 16, included two mobile phones, an iPod, a brown bag containing cosmetics and clothing.

Police say all incidents appear to have taken place during the hours of darkness.

Meanwhile, a Suzuki Swift motor vehicle has been stolen from the Mitchell Road area of Cumbernauld.

The vehicle was stolen sometime between 8.30pm on Saturday, September 14, and 2.30pm the following day.
