Solar power lights up Bron Way

The Photo Voltaic (PV) panels have been installed on the roof of the council offices in Bron Way in the town and will enable electricity to be sold to the National Grid bringing in around £1,200 of income.

The income generation will be deducted from the electricity bills for the offices from the 9.9kWp panels and will save around 4,463kg of CO2 emissions each year.

Councillor Jim McGuigan said: “The introduction of solar panels will help the council cut its carbon footprint and highlights our commitment to using renewable technologies.

“Over the next 25 years, the solar panels will provide income of around £70,000 for the council, and we will continue to look into other environmentally friendly schemes for energy generation at other suitable sites.”
