Spate of car thefts in Cumbernauld

POLICE are warning householders to be extra vigilant after several cars were nicked in Cumbernauld in the last week.

A red Honda Civic was stolen from outside a house on Glen Sannox View sometime between 11pm on Tuesday, February 19, and 7.30am the following day.

Cheeky thieves broke into a property on the same street at around 4.20am on Wednesday, February 20, stealing laptops before making off with the householders’ two cars, a white BMW and a black Vauxhall Insignia.

A white Range Rover Sport was stolen from outside a house in Kings Drive between midnight and 4.30am on Monday, February 25. Police say three mobile phones were also stolen in the incident.

Michael Duffy, safer communities police officer, said: “We would like to remind householders to ensure that all external doors are locked at all times.

’’Care should also be taken when placing keys and other valuables.’’
