Spiritual meet with Dalai Lama

A FORMER Kilsyth Academy pupil has had the honour of meeting His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Jacqui DeFelice is pictured holding hands with His Holiness at a New York fundraiser on October 20.

The 44-year-old met him in her capacity as director of operation and advancement for the Mind and Life Institute which is based in Hadley, Massachusetts, where she now lives.

The non-profit organization seeks to understand the human mind and is supported by His Holiness.

Jacqui moved to the States in 1991 where she now lives with her American husband Scott.

Her proud mum Jasmine Dorans still lives in Cumbernauld with her step-dad Douglas.

Jacqui, whose maiden name is Wiseman’s, dad lives in Edinburgh and her sister Claire Exley resides in Banknock.

The family stayed in Kilsyth for a number of years while the girls studied at Kilsyth Academy.

Mum Jasmine said: “Jacqui told me he is a very charismatic man and she said just being in the room with him was so special.

“I am very proud of her.”
