St. Helen’s pupils plant out in memory of fallen

Youngsters from St. Helen’s Primary School in Condorrat proved they have ‘green fingers’ when they planted bulbs in the village’s Saltire Garden recently.

And the pupils, kitted out in fluorescent vests and armed with trowels and forks, had a more poignant reason to put trowel to earth.

They were helping to plant the 17 kilos of bulbs, donated by Condorrat Spar, in honour of all who fought and those who fell in the First and Second World Wars.

The St. Helen’s peace bench displays a bronze plaque inscribed with the words ‘Your past, our future’. The plaque dates back to 1973 when the school was opened.
