Students celebrate

STUDENTS at Cumbernauld College celebrated their achievements at a special awards ceremony.

Top students were awarded their graduation scrolls as well as special commendations in the sophisticated ceremony at St Mungo’s Church.

Friends, family, staff and special guests all cheered for more than 100 students who took to the stage to receive their various awards.

Paul McKelvie OBE attended the event as a guest speaker. He is on the Skills Development Scotland Board, which oversees skills and training in Scotland.

The full-time learner awards were presented to Lorna McAdams (Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries), Andrew McCartney (Care and Education) and Yasmin Kelly (Service Industries).

The lifelong learner prizes went to Peter McDade (Engineering, Computing and Creative Industries), Ana-Luisa Rennox (Care and Education) and Carol Ann Campbell (Service Industries). Hairdressing student Lorraine McQueen was named SQA Local College Award Winner, and achieved an HNC in the subject.

Martin McGuire, Principal of Cumbernauld College was very proud of his students, saying: “All graduating students have worked very hard throughout the year and are a credit to the college.I hope the graduates have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Cumbernauld College and I wish them every success in the future.”
