Talented youngsters audition

X Factor 2013 runner-up Nicholas McDonald popped along to meet performers auditioning for Razzamataz dance and theatre school’s southside franchise last week.

Founder Denise Gosney — who persuaded Dragon’s Den investor Duncan Bannatyne to part with his cash for a shareholding — told The Extra: “It was a great night.

“On the back of The X Factor we had our very own Razz Factor, with the same type of format.

“The kids all auditioned, preparing their performance whether it was a song, dance or drama piece.

“All our students from age 8-18 were able to apply to audition and kids outwith the school could also apply.

“ The talent was excellent and all kids put 100 per cent effort in and their confidence was outstanding.”

The kids were auditioning for a prize of two free terms at the stage school with a lead role in the summer show and a photoshoot with KK Snaps photography in Glasgow.

Denise explained: “As the judges couldn’t choose just one winner, we split the prize between junior Freya McCormack and senior student Erin Wharton. Both of them had fantastic auditions and sang their hearts out. Having Nicholas McDonald there was great. He was excellent with the kids, signing autographs, photos and chatting with them and gave great feedback to all the kids that auditioned.”

Nicholas added: “The kids were fabulous. The talent on display was outstanding.”
