Tenants asked to use App

Council tenants in North Lanarkshire are being encouraged to use a handy new App on their smartphones and tablets to report housing repairs.

The council launched the service earlier this year and the free to download App lets tenants report issues directly to the local homes repairs team using their smartphone and include pictures of the work required.

Des Murray, property services manager with North Lanarkshire Council, said: “With so many people owning high-tech phones the ‘NLC Local’ App gives people a fast and convenient way of reporting repairs. The App is designed to give people an easy method to report their repairs concerns and means we can respond in a more effective manner to each individual job. Tenants can quickly fill in details of the repair required and attach pictures which enable us to better identify the resources and manpower needed to complete the job in the quickest possible time.”

Councillor Sam Love, added: “We aim to ensure that tenants receive the best possible repairs service and the development of this technology will help do that.We are always looking to make things easier for our tenants using our repairs service and this App will definitely do that. The app allows our tenants to report repairs at a time convenient to them and repairs can also be reported on behalf of elderly relatives and friends who may not own a smartphone.”
