Tenants come together

North Lanarkshire residents came together recently to attend the council’s annual Tenants’ Conference.

The theme of the event was ‘Working Together - Meeting the Challenges’ and tenants were give the chance to reflect on the changes to services and discuss the financial challenges presented by welfare reform.

Councillor Sam Love said, “It was great to see such a good turnout, which clearly demonstrates everyone’s commitment to tenant participation and working together to improve our housing services. As well as looking at the challenges being faced, we also took stock of the progress we’re making. We’ve completed over 200 new homes as part of our Building for the Future new house building programme, with many tenants now happily settled in their new homes. We’re also now using new technology to improve our repairs service and making it easier for tenants to arrange appointments and find out how their repairs are progressing. By working in partnership with our tenants we’re developing our services to ensure they meet their needs and make a positive difference to their lives.”

Feedback showed that 97 per cent of tenants would be interested in attending a future conference, with 89 per cent rating the overall day as very good or good.
