Roads chaos in Cumbernauld due to Storm Doris

Despite severe travel disruption, including traffic incidents on the M80, all local services remain in operation.

A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council said: “The motorway incidents are having a knock on effect on secondary routes.”

Several school buses were cancelled in Cumbernauld, affecting Our Lady’s High School, Cumbernauld Academy, Greenfaulds High School, Cumbernauld and St Andrew’s Primary, Clencryan, Redburn and Baird Memorial Primary School.

NLC has seen many angry complaints from residents on its social media, with several people claiming efforts to grit the roads were inadequate.
