Travellers re-appearance in Westfield sparks concerns

Irate residents in Westfield are demanding to know why North Lanarkshire Council is failing to deal with the repeat appearance of travellers in the area.

Last month, the travellers pitched camp in the Leckethill area on land bordering a football pitch, sparking a host of complaints from locals about mess and noise.

Officers from the council visited the site and the visitors agreed to move on but it would seem that the area is becoming an established favourite with travellers.

More are now installed at Deerdykes Place with a fleet of caravans, cars and vans, raising questions as to when Westfield will be traveller-free.
