Trust idea could affect places like Kilsyth’s Colzium House

DRASTIC changes to the way Colzium House and other similar facilities are run could result from proposals under consideration by North Lanarkshire Council.

A report with the policy and resources committee suggests examining “alternative arrangements” for managing cultural services, country parks, outdoor centres and other associated services.

The document suggests that a move to set up a non-profit distributing organisation, better known as a trust, to manage such assets externally could save the council a whopping £800,000.

But the idea has received a cool response locally.
