Jim and Ann McQuire from the Abronhill area had made a late booking to the resort of Sousse where the gun attack took place on Friday.

It is understood that they were due to return home on Saturday. Around 30 Britons have died following the terror attack including four Scots.

The McQuires had recently retired. Mr McQuire was also a captain with the Boys’ Brigade.

A lone gunman with links to Islamic State opened fire at holidaymakers on a packed beach in Sousse on Friday, leaving 38 people dead.
